Close the lid, cut off the oxygen and fuel supply as fast as you can.

You’re supposed to sear after you smoke it.
unknowable_stRanger
Yeah you gotta degrease those before that happens.
Rustyinsac
Had that happen at a time share we were at. Used the fire extinguisher 🧯 and left it closed the rest of the week. There’s always next season. Maybe the grease will go away on its own.

This happened to me on my Masterbuilt as well. 1 box of baking soda later and it was lights out for that fire.

Is it clean?

I cleaned my pot boss and this happened. I left some grease somewhere I shouldn’t have and it got 🔥🔥
Chuk1359
Let it burn out; scrape it off, and you have a clean grill.
Chrisdkn619
Nah, be cool after it burns off. Damn 1050 flare-ups a bitch! Mostly just use mine for smoking now

Hey this looks like a Masterbuilt gravity smoker. If that’s the case, I’ve had the 560 series for 3 or 4 years now and I’m not proud to say I’ve had a couple similar incidents when trying to push the temp above 500. Not sure if you’ve tried messing with it yet, but mine has come out the other side of both fires with no damage to the smoker or the tech components. Hope it’s the same for you!

Where there’s smoke there’s fire

Glad nothing more caught fire! I just had this happen with my 25 year old Weber Genesis. All was fine after closing it, turning off, and disconnecting.
My new one is coming on Tuesday. I’m not changing my main grill after that long.
But I also got an East Oak electric smoker cheap on Prime Day. Going to try a little smoking…
ledoofus
Best thing is turn off the gas and mist it with water to cool it down. It’s a grease fire so you don’t pour water onto it just give it a couple squirts at a time and it’ll go out fast.
byggusdikkus
I was wondering why you took a video instead of just slamming the lid shut, but it makes sense, I wouldn’t want that smoke either
JudsonIsDrunk
the grease is an auxiliary fuel source

Wow! I witnessed a similar inferno on my buddy’s grill when he tried to grill bacon. It blistered most the paint on his grill!

Nothing a .79 cent box of baking soda couldn’t fix immediately. Ask me how many times it happened to me for the first time.

That’s a VERY aggressive reverse sear.
BadTxV2021
Just close the lid and unplug. Let it burn itself out. I have had this happen multiple times. Don’t panic just close the lid and kill power. Make sure it’s away from any combustibles.
